The Crown's current owners have informed the Borough Council of their 'Intention to Dispose'. That is, they intend to sell and we can finally move forward with our plans.
Next up we'll be informing the Borough Council of our intention to bid. We don't need to do this right away - we have six weeks to think about it - but I see no good reason to keep Dave & Cheryl waiting. After all, we instigated this process and we're determined to raise the necessary funds so let's get on with it. I'm sure the rest of the group will agree when I say that I'd like to submit our bid before the end of the moratorium in June 2018. The sooner the better, for everyone involved.
Although there has been a delay in receiving the notice of disposal, our group has not paused in its' efforts. We've been working hard behind the scenes and what follows is a quick run-down of where we're at.
Fundraising events are in the final planning stages. I expect that by the end of next week we'll have dates for you to put in your diaries. Fundraising is going to be hard work but with your support we'll have a great time in the process. Yes, there will be headaches along the way, but no obstacle is insurmountable.
Our share prospectus is currently being checked over by a boffin at The Plunkett Foundation. This check will ensure that all the necessary information you need to make an informed decision about buying our shares is included in the document. Oh, it should also mean that the document itself is not full of legal jargon but instead is in fairly plain English.
Pledges and donations are still being received! Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far. Special thanks to those who have donated directly into our bank account. Those donations, however small, go a long way towards our incidental costs such as printing, running this website and ordering merchandise. Yes, merchandise! Our online shop is imminent, you'll be able to purchase small gifts for all your friends and relatives worldwide to help us spread the word of our cause.
These are exciting times for Northwold's heritage. The Manor House is looking splendid having been brought back from the brink. The church is undergoing major work. Let's not leave it too late to save the pub.
We have six months from December 12th to put in our bid. Other community groups may also submit bids. Most importantly, raising the funds is no guarantee we can buy the pub. But we'll do our absolute best. ↩︎
